Three years & counting

Three years ago, I was not in a great place. My veneer said otherwise, but the black dog was nipping at my heels.

I was determined to find some consistency and focus, build better habits and bring some incremental change — body, soul, and spirit. I resolved to establish a daily, afternoon, and evening ‘routine’.

My ‘routines’ have gradually changed over time, but the core elements have been — daily exercise (body and brain); being disciplined about what I eat; spending time in reflection; and, finding wonder in small moments.

In three years, the veneer has improved. I’ve lost 20 kg and 4 inches (10.16 cm) off my waist.

My mental outlook has vastly improved. The black dog still comes sniffing around, but most days I outrun him.

The best bit? I am not only fitter and healthier than I’ve possibly ever been, but I’m also more than able to keep up (and hopefully stick around) with the people in my life who truly matter.

My encouragement? Life is not easy, but it’s worth the struggle.

Much love.
